14/15 Nov - Kathy Kelly Meeting

Kathy Kelly to visit Yorkshire

Wednesday November 14th 7.30pm
Hebden Bridge Trades Club

Thursday November 15th 12noon
Parkinson Building, University of Leeds

Renowned peace activist Kathy Kelly will be speaking of her experiences in Iraq and Lebanon when she visits Hebden Bridge on Wednesday November 14th and Leeds the following day.

As part of a nationwide tour, Kathy will be in Calderdale to share her eye-witness analysis of war and conflict in the Middle East. She was in Iraq when the US-led assault began in March 2003 and was also in Beirut during the final days of the Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006.

Fined for bringing medicine and toys to Iraq in 1996, in defiance of UN and US sanctions, Kathy has a proud history of non violence and uses her experiences to teach and inspire others to take action against brutality and injustice.

Daniel Russell from Calderdale Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament said; ‘Kathy Kelly is an inspiration to peace campaigners around the world. She shows how we can all take action to challenge inequality and injustice. Her accounts from Iraq will give us an honest insight into the true consequences of the US and UK occupation.’

Kathy Kelly is speaking at the Hebden Bridge Trades Club on Wednesday November 14th at 7.30pm. The meeting is open to all and food will be provided. Donations welcome.

She will also be speaking the following day, November 15th at the University of Leeds, Room MB B11 in the Parkinson Building from 12 noon until 1pm.

The meeting in Hebden Bridge is organised by Calderdale CND, Calderdale against the War and Yorkshire CND.
