25 Nov 06 - Refugees in Our Community

Presentation by 'The Refugee Council Talks Team' in the War Cinema at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds

Saturday 25th November at 1.30pm

The subject of refugees and asylum seekers is always a hot topic, in the news more or less on a daily basis. Is there a difference between an asylum seeker and a refugee? What circumstances affect people so much that they see no other alternative than to leave their home?

Members of ‘The Refugee Council Talks Team’ will present a one hour overview of the poignant and emotive subject of refugees in the local community. The talk aims to define various categories relating to people seeking asylum; why, who and how? A number of speakers will also tell their own stories of persecution, flight and life within the community of Leeds.

The talk named ‘Refugees in Our Community’ will take place in the War Cinema at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds at 1:30pm on Saturday 25th November.
